Jurassic World Art Test

Development Process

Concept Art-

To continue working on and improving my skills after university I decided to work on an environment. I found Concept Art from the Jurassic world movie here and set after working

https://www.jurassic-pedia.com/a-jurassic-world-of-concept-art/

I chose this to work on as I wanted to make more real world materials and this one had some simple modelling alongside a fun range of materials.

Section Blockout-

I started by blocking out a single section to instance across the model for all sections, it was really satisfying making the I beams however much of the other pieces are quite simple.

Full Ring Blockout-

For the Full Blockout I duplicated my starting Piece into a Hexagon, leaving space for the door, Which I then modelled including the frame. The concept was quite detailed in some sections for this but vague in others so this was quite challenging

Concrete Material-

I had never made a high resolution concrete material so I found a tutorial to work off of

https://youtu.be/P2VgSMHCFfI?si=4_5r9omg20eXKc4Z

I found this really useful and the final result looks really clean and gave me a good baseline to work on the other materials for

Breeze Blocks Material-

Next I wanted to make a bricklike texture, this wasnt shown explicity in the concept art but I took a little creative liberty. I wanted to challenge myself with this so I made it from scratch without a tutorial. Combining Grunge Spots and a Grunge concrete I made the Air holes Breeze blocks are notable for alongside using a noise blend to disrupt the perfect brick pattern.

Brushed Steel Material-

I also made this material from scratch, I dont think its quite the right material for I beams however it was a fun exercise. I used a grunge scractches and warped it to be more compact striations and dirtied it up a touch to remove perfections.
